Mike Strick has been working as a Bereavement Coordinator and Grief Recovery Specialist with Crossroads Hospice in Cincinnati for 10 years. Most of his bereavement work involves following up post-death with patient families and friends via individual and family meetings, grief support groups, phone calls, as well as providing educational information and mental health referrals as needed. Mike also sits at bedside to provide comfort and support to dying patients and their families.

Mike was trained as a mental health therapist and has his Master’s degree in Psychology – Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University. He also trained as a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist through the Grief Recovery Institute and leads the Grief Recovery Method®: Grief Support Groups throughout the year in Hamilton, Clermont and Brown Counties. Mike has led more than 85 of these grief support classes in the greater Cincinnati area, working with hundreds of grievers. He has worked with people grieving death from all causes including: long and short illnesses, unexpected deaths, accidents, suicide, murder, drug overdose, and miscarriages. Mike has also worked with grievers going through health loss and change, divorce, job loss, estrangement in relationship, as well as many other losses.

Mike is beginning his eighth year leading the Grief Recovery Method: Grief Support Group at the Cancer Support Community in Blue Ash. He has been featured on local television and radio stations and has given talks on grief and loss at churches, community centers, senior centers, substance abuse/addiction centers, healthcare groups, women’s groups, and chamber of commerce meetings to name a few.

Before working in hospice, Mike lived in Seattle, WA and worked as a counselor with developmentally disabled adults, as a counselor in a college counseling office, and as a career and job loss counselor with adults. Mike also has his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Miami University. He spent the first ten years of his career in various sales and human resource positions with Fortune 500 companies, mid-sized businesses and start-ups.
